One of the most important things that every woman should be aware is about their breast health and how to maintain it.
Some healthy tips to keep your breasts at optimum health.
Maintaining a healthy body weight: Maintain a BMI less than 23 throughout your life. Weight gain after menopause increases your risk of breast cancer.
Minimise or avoid alcohol: Alcohol is one of the most well established dietary risk factor for breast cancer. Women who consume more than two glasses of alcohol a day are at higher risk.
Quit smoking: The risk of many cancers, including breast cancer, increases if you smoke.
Exercise: Fat cells produce estrogen, and high levels of that hormone have been linked to certain cancers. Working out can shrink the size of fat cells, so your body pumps out less estrogen. The American Cancer Society recommends getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. Any kind of cardio will do, so hop on your bike or hit the nature trail. If your time is limited, exercising at high intensity for 75 minutes a week will have the same benefit.
I am a big believer of using the foods we eat as medicine, as opposed to countless pills and tablets to sort us out. I take a very natural approach to being healthy, and it works. I am not a big promoter of ‘going on a diet’, and obviously, it is a short term solution to your problem.
What we are trying to achieve is a long term solution of consistent gradual fat loss through healthy eating choices and a good exercise programme. Before starting your new healthy eating initiative the first step I would advise is to undergo a period of detoxification, rather than a diet.
Why is it important to detox before changing your nutritional habits?
This will help you to get rid of some of the initial fat loss, give you a good start to eating right but most importantly get rid of a lot of the harmful toxins which will prevent you from losing fat effectively. So many people go on a diet without a period of detoxification first. They cut out all of the bad things that they consume at once and as they haven’t detoxed first they often become ill while dieting as their liver can’t handle the pressure. This leads to one thing which is returning to the bad habits and putting the weightback on.
Bunions are large bony bumps caused by the abnormal growth of the inner portion of the joint at the base of the big toe. There is an additional bone formation which together with the misalignment of the big toe causes it to protrude out. Some of the common causes of bunions are influenza, tonsillitis, gout, poor metabolism, improper nutrition, rheumatic infections and uncomfortable shoes. Bunions can get to be really uncomfortable and frustrating, especially while finding the right footwear. Here are a few natural remedies I’ve come across that can be very effective for bunions.
Natural Remedies to treat Bunions:
1. The Bay Leaf Method:
Pour about 300 ml of water over a tablespoon of crushed bay leaves. Next, cook this for 5 minutes and leave it in a thermos overnight.
– Next, strain out the liquid and take small sips throughout the day. Do not consume all at once.
– Repeat the process for 3 continuous days, and make sure you prepare a fresh drink everyday. Repeat the treatment after a week.
The only drawback of this method is frequent urination. You should notice some improvement after about 10 days of this treatment. Also, you will find relief from joint pain. Do this for about 2 months to heal your bunions completely.
– Crush about 5 bay leaves finely and pour this in 100 ml of 96% alcohol. Leave this for one week and then strain.
– First soak your feet in a mixture of water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Next, dry your feet with a clean towel and apply the remedy and then make sure you wear cotton socks.
been established and reaped for thousands of years. The countless medicinal properties of this fruit have given it a special place in Ayurveda. That being said, consuming Amla in excessive amounts can cause numerous side-effects. Though the effects may not be harsh, but nonetheless, it can cause a decent amount of discomfort.
Side Effects Of Amla And Who Must Not Consume
Amla, in itself, is a good cure for constipation. But in excess it may aggravate the very ailment it is supposed to cure. Consuming Amla in high amounts can cause the stool to harden, thereby causing constipation. The problem is multiplied if water intake gets reduced.
2. Not Advisable For People With Heart Ailments
Amla is a powerful cardiovascular stimulant. Although it may not pose any hazardous health risks per se, but people with heart problems need to consult their doctors before consuming this fruit.
